There’s nothing better than earning money, especially when you don’t really have to do all that much to see a reward. Enter two of my favourite websites to help earn a bit extra spending money for travel: Cash Rewards and Swagbucks.
- Cash Rewards is an Australian based website that allows you to earn back a certain percentage of the money you spend shopping online. It’s super easy – all you have to do is click through the links on their website, or install the chrome notifier to let you know when you’re on a site where you can earn cash back. Then, your cookies are tracked and once you make a purchase, you’ll receive an email with details of the cash you’ll get back.
You can earn cash back from Menulog, iTunes, Amazon, Sephora, Coles, Woolworths, ASOS, Virgin Australia, eBay…the opportunities are endless! If you’re going to be spending the money anyway, why not sign up for a little bit of cash back?
- Swagbucks works a little differently to Cash Rewards, but the premise is the same. You earn a digital currency (the aforementioned “swagbucks”) through a similar online shopping process as CR, but you can also earn them through completing surveys, using affiliate links, or using their search engine as your default way to search. Once a day they also release a “swagcode” which earns you a couple of points. I’ve switched my search engine to swagbucks (although still go to google for more serious research) and have drastically increased my point balance by the simple act of not defaulting to google. I also do surveys when I have the time, as they’re probably the easiest way to earn bulk points in short periods of time.
When you reach multiples of 1000 (equal to $10) you can cash out, either in the form of gift cards or a paypal deposit. It’s a little bit more effort than just using Cash Rewards, but the earn is worth it!
These are not ways to fund a trip or to make a living, but they’re useful (and simple!) ways to add a little to your savings without actually doing much of anything. Why not give them a try?
*Disclaimer: The links provided in this post are referral links. All that means is if you sign up using the link, I’ll earn a credit to my account – but don’t worry, because you’re using a referral link you’ll earn some too!
